Homemade Butterscotch Sauce

Butterscotch Sauce

This Butterscotch recipe is absolutely delicious and flavourful than store bought one which is super easy to make at home.. I stumpled upon this recipe when I saw this @ Smitten space and gave a try and to say it is a fool proof one..Just try this and enjoy with icecream or fruits. Sure it will be a delicious treats!! Butterscotch is much sweeter than caramel sauce with melt in mouth quanlity..
This recipe goes to third day of blogging marathon under the how to cook basic liquids theme...

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 5 ~ 8 minutes
Yield: About 2 cups
Source: Smitten Kitchen

INGREDIENTS:
½ cup unsalted butter @ room temperature
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup heavy cream
½ tsp regular salt
1 tsp vanilla

COOKING
:

Butterscotch Sauce

  • Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar, cream and salt, and whisk until well blended. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat slightly and gently boil for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract. Serve warm or at room temperature (the sauce will thicken as it cools). Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator and re-warm before using.
