Peshawari Lassi

Peshawari Lassi
Panjab, is a state in the northwest of India. The term Punjab comprises two words: "punj" meaning five and "ab" meaning water, thus the land of five rivers.
The state is bordered by the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh to the east, Haryana to the south and southeast and Rajasthan to the southwest as well as the Pakistani province of Punjab to the west. It is also bounded to the north by the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Punjabi cuisine is wholesome and is full of rustic flavor and has both vegetarian and non vegetarian cooking habits. Even today, the custom of cooking in community ovens or tandoors prevails in rural areas. Tandoori dishes are popular all over the country today. Naans, parathas, and rotis made of maize or wheat flour are typical Punjabi breads. Most of these are prepared in the tandoors and served hot with a chunk of butter of Desi ghee and a plate of onions, green chilly and lime.
