kezhvaragu Puttu / Ragi Puttu / Finger millet crumb



       Kezhvaragu / Ragi  is nutritious low fat cereal like oats which is used regularly in South India  which has lot of health benefits when consumed regularly and prevent as from malnutrition, premature ageing and the development of degenerative diseases. Green Ragi is a remedy for blood pressure, heart weakness, liver disease, asthma and lack of milk production during lactation period. 
 
      This humble delicacy is not only filling and also act as coolant. There are many recipes we can make use of ragi and today I going to share my Mom's recipe which is very tasty and make wholesome meal..

    

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serves: 3 ~ 4

Ingredients:
1 cup ragi flour
¼ cup warm water or as required
¼ tsp salt or to taste
¼ ~ ½ cup shredded coconut or as needed
1 cup sugar or to taste
¼ tsp cardamon powder
1 tbsp ghee
Nuts as needed( optional)

Method:
1. Mix salt and  water together, mix until salt completely dissolves in water.

2. Sprinkle salt water little by little to the ragi flour until you get bread crumbs texture.

3. Transfer the puttu mixture to idly cooker and steam it for 20 minutes. Turn off the heat allow it cool.

4. Transfer the puttu mixture to mixing bowl and break the lumps in to fine powder. Stir in shredded coconut   and mix.
5. Add ghee, cardamon powder to the puttu mixture and  mix well.

6. Finally add required sugar and nuts and mix well. Serve hot...
