Urulai Puffs / Potato puffs

Urulai Puffs / Potato puffs
    
Preparation time: 30 ~ 40  minutes 
Baking time: less than 15 minutes
yield: 9 pieces from one full sheet
Ingredients:
1 full puff pastry sheets.
Milk as needed
 For Filling

1 ½ tbsp oil
½ tsp cumin seeds
10 ~ 12 cashews, broken into pieces
1/ 4 cup chopped onion
1 minced green chilli
¾ tsp ginger garlic paste
½ tsp turmeric powder
¾ tsp red chilli powder
¾ tsp coriander powder
½ tsp garam masala powder
3 ~ 4 medium size potatoes

2 ~ 3 tbsp fresh or frozen peas (optional)
Salt to taste

Minced cilantro, little

Method:

For Frying:

1. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, let it splutter. Add broken cashews and fry for few seconds.
2. Add onions, fry till it become soft and transparent. Throw in minced green chilies, ginger garlic paste and    saute for few seconds till raw smell disappear.

3. Add all four masala powder and fry for few seconds till raw smell disappear.
4. Add potato, and peas and saute till masala combine together. Adjust salt to taste.
5. Turn off the heat and add minced cilantro. Mix again. Allow the filling mixture to cool.

Folding the puff pastry and baking:

6. Thaw the pastry sheets according to the package instructions. 
7. At the end of  thaw period. Preheat the oven at 400 deg F
8. Dust your working space with little bit of flour and slightly roll the sheet.
9. Cut into sheet equally in to desired shapes like rectangles /squares etc  
10. Add 2 tsp of filling in each divided sheets. Apply the milk on the edges and fold it. Seal and apply milk on the top of the puff and bake for 12 to 14 minutes until the puff turns golden brown.
