Falafel with Hummus dip - Valentine special..

Happy Valentine Wishes my friends, Hope you all having a fun blasting day.
This is my 6th day in blogging marathon with  APPETIZER theme, so I decided to make delicious & crispy Falafel with Hummus dip from Mediterranean Kitchen. It is a fried balls or bean patties.
Try this in your kitchen & you can admire a new taste & flavor... Sure it will be a counterbalance for our regular masala vadai..

Ingredients:

For Falafel:

White Chana /  Garbanzo beans - 1 cup
Onion - 1(chopped)
Cilantro - ½ cup(minced)
Mint leaves - ½ cup(minced)
Green chili - 2 or to taste
Garlic pods - 5 (minced)
Red chili powder - 1 tsp or to taste
Coriander powder - ½ tsp or to taste
Cumin powder - ½ tsp
Black pepper - ½ tsp
Bread crumbs - ½ cup
Sesame seeds - 2tbsp
Salt - to taste

Add these ingredients 15 minutes before frying

  • Baking soda - ¼ tsp
  • Baking powder -  ¼ tsp
  • All purpose flour - 2tbsp

For Hummus :

Yogurt -¼ cup
Cooked Garbanzo beans / White Channa - 1 cup
Tahini Sauce - 2 tbsp
Lemon juice - ¼ cup
Garlic - 3 pods
Red chili power - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Olive Oil - 2 tbsp( I used normal cooking oil )

    Water - 2tbsp
Lemon juice - 1 lemon or to taste
    Garlic - 4 pods
Red chili powder - ¼ tsp or to taste
Pepper powder - ½ tsp or to taste
    Salt  - to taste

      Method:

      For making Falafel:

      • Soak Channa overnight & drain the water. Blend the bean in food processor until it turn to bread crumb consistency & transfer to serving bowl.
      • Grind Onion, garlic, mint & leaves, Green chili in to fine paste and add to the bean crumbs.
      • Add Red chili powder, Coriander powder,Cumin powder, Black pepper, Bread crumbs & salt and mix well. Adjust salt to taste.
      • Let it rest for 10 minutes.
      • Stir in baking powder, baking soda & flour to bean mixture and let it sit for another 15 minutes.
      • Heat oil in a frying pan in medium heat. Once oil get heated, low the heat & drop falafel balls into oil. ( You can shape Falafel, by using falafel mold or in hand as we do for masala vadai.)
      • Continuously turn the falafel  & Fry till it turns to golden brown color.
      • Serve with Hummus dip.

      For  Making Tahini Sauce:

      • Grind sesame seeds with water to paste & then add rest of the ingredients & grind it again for a minute. Keep it ready for Hummus.

      For making Hummus:

      • Mix all ingredient except mint & cilantro and blend it to a smooth paste. Adjust water to desired thicknes.
